The Union's Industrial Department represents the wage interests and conditions of employment for Collective Agreements.
Industrial advice and representation is also available for a range of individual matters.
Workplace Support

Free legal advice may be available across a range of work related and personal issues, with interviews available in Sydney, Parramatta, Newcastle, Wollongong, Gosford and in regional areas by arrangement.
Picnic day
The United Services Union has always celebrated Union Picnic Day. Union Picnic Day is celebrated for the right reasons - giving employees with a common interest and goal the opportunity to gather together socially to promote a spirit of unity.
Mortality Benefit
The Union provides a Mortality Benefit payment to the immediate next of kin of a deceased member. The death of a member can be an extremely difficult time for families, emotionally and financially. The Union, through its Mortality Benefit programme, endeavours to make benefit payments as soon as possible to approved applicants.

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Union supports members and their families through the Phil Smyth Memorial Scholarship program. Scholarships are awarded in four categories. The 1997 Annual Conference resolved to allocate funds to honour the contribution to the M.E.U., and in particular the education and training of Union members, by our esteemed colleague and friend the late Phil Smyth.
It is suggested that the Union distribute these funds for the educational assistance of members and their families.
