Waverley Council Fortnightly Pay proposal ... here we go again
At the Waverley Council Joint Consultative Committee (WJCC) meeting held Wednesday 1st February 2012, Council officers delivered a presentation outlining their intention to introduce Fortnightly Pays.
For some of the long serving members on the WJCC it was reminiscent of Groundhog Day as this is the third attempt to introduce Fortnightly Pays at Waverley within 15 years.
The presentation was facilitated by Angela Pennington (Waverley Council Human Resources Partner) and supported by David Taubman (Waverley Council Divisional Manager Human Resources and Organisation Development) who outlined the issues - history and forecast - pertinent to this Fortnightly Pay Proposal. Some of their points included:
• “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”
• “Operational Reasons to Change”
• “Lessening Staff Impact”
• “Alternatives we have already tried”
• “Current Pay Cycle”
• “Advantages (to Council) Fortnightly Pay Proposal”
• “How this will be paid”
• “how this will work initially”
• “Consultation Process” (30th January 2012 to 4th April 2012)
Staff representatives were given the opportunity to raise their initial concerns.
Once again the United Services Union acknowledged they will support their members.
It is vital to remember that this contentious issue affects ALL STAFF. The USU urges all employees to join the union, to ensure we have the collective strength to ensure members’ interests are protected.
Your USU Delegates will have copies of the presentation and you should contact the USU for further information.
