NSW Electricity Industry: Powering up the Fight

By Scott McNamara
USU Manager Energy & Utilities
Aug 28, 2009

The NSW Government continues to defy overwhelming public opposition by attempting to privatise areas of the NSW Power Industry.

Whilst Minister Tripodi has been flying around the world spending in excess of $290,000, trying to sell off your industry, he has forgotten about the employees within NSW energy industry.

The USU is continuing its fight to stop your jobs being sold, however, we must also ensure that your jobs are protected. This is something that Minister Tripodi refuses to guarantee.

Mass meetings have been held throughout the state with members rejecting the proposals by Joe Tripodi and the NSW State Government to privatise the retail function and lease the trading function of the generators.

It is imperative that our members power up the fight to maintain the NSW Electricity industry in our hands and now more than ever we must maintain Aussie jobs.

Please speak with your family and friends, encourage them to make contact with their local MP’s or visit the USU website and follow the prompts to send an email to MP’s.
