An Independent Umpire Means a Fair Go

By Steve Birney
USU President
Sep 1, 2007

There is a  clear choice for working families at the next federal election.

Labor’s industrial relations policy is a positive alternative to the Howard Government’s unfair Work Choices legislation.

Labor's policy provides for:
  • remedies for unfair dismissal.
  • a new independent umpire.
  • a strong safety net of minimum standards and award entitlements.
  • a fair system of collective bargaining.
