Qantas: Vote YES for EBA 8

Voting in Australian Services Union (Qantas Airways Limited) Agreement 8 (EBA 8) commences online from 9 am on Monday 7 January 2008 and closes at midnight on Sunday 20 January 2008.
Following the endorsement of both ASU members and delegates the ASU recommends a Yes vote to all staff eligible to vote.

Voting is online via the website http://www.myvote.com.au/asueba8 and we recommend voting “Yes” to the ballot question which is as follows:

Do you approve the Australian Services Union (Qantas Airway Limited) Agreement being made?

Voting Is Important
It is important to vote and make your view known, if you do not vote your
vote does not count at all, as only the majority of votes cast in the ballot determine the outcome.

For example if only 1000 people out of the almost 10,000 eligible to vote cast a ballot they will determine the result for everyone.

Make sure you have a say!

What’s Next
After the ballot closes on Sunday 20 January 2008 the independent organisation conducting the ballot, Elections Australia Pty Ltd, will count the votes and if a majority of those voting vote “Yes” the EBA can be lodged. The EBA comes into operation on the date it is lodged.

This means Qantas will back pay staff to the first pay period on or after 1 July 2007.
