WORKCOVER TO SHELLHARBOUR COUNCIL

Following discussions with members and delegates at Shellharbour Council the USU instigated a Workcover investigation into what USU Organiser Anna Watson believed to be a "culture of bullying".

As a result, Workcover did extensive investigations which have led to 5 improvement notices being issued to council.

Workcover found that "Employees are exposed to a risk to their health, safety and welfare whilst at work due to a culture of bullying by Management of the Shellharbour City Council."

With a series of measures to be taken over the coming weeks and months to address this culture the USU will continue to hold discussions with delegates, members, council and OHS committee members to ensure all measures are completed.

This decision by Workcover vindicates the concerns raised by the members at Shellharbour Council about workplace bullying and harassment. Members with concerns should contact the USU on 1300 136 604  immediately.
