Newcastle Permanent Building Society: 2010 COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT UPDATE
Jul 1, 2009: Your Collective Agreement, which contains your working conditions and entitlements, expires on 31 January 2010. So what, you say, that's months away. Both your Union and NPBS management recognise these Agreements take considerable time to finalise and so are keen to kick the process off in the near future.

May 27, 2009: On May 15 Collective Agreement negotiations between Phone tab Management and representatives of the United Services Union, which had been adjourned at Management's request during the Autumn Racing Carnival, recommenced.

CORPORATE SAVING WORKSHOPS ACROSS MID WESTERN REGIONAL COUNCIL
May 1, 2009: The United Services Union urges all members and employees to attend Workshops in your area and department which have been set-up by MWRC in conjunction with the USU to allow everybody to have a say in where council’s finances could be better utilised.  We need all workers to have an input so bring your ideas to the workshops.

USU & Mosman Council Staff Consultative Committee Work To Improve Conditions
Apr 16, 2009: November saw the Union successful in the fight to have Local Government declared to fall under the NSW Industrial Relations Commission with WorkChoices having no effect on Local Government employees.  Working conditions and jobs are protected by the Local Government State Award, as there were before the threat of Workchoices.

Apr 2, 2009: With the new Fair Work Australia federal industrial relations changes having passed into law Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard is now chairing a series of meetings with State Industrial Relations Ministers to reach agreement on how these new laws will apply to employees presently engaged under State awards. The USU is calling on the State and Federal governments to stand by pre-election commitments to protect our NSW State award and state industrial rights.

Parramatta City Council Members: Have Your Say About YOUR Pay & Conditions
Mar 10, 2009: Parramatta City Council employees have enjoyed fair and reasonable working conditions since 2004 via the staff Enterprise Agreement (PCC EA). It's time again for the Union to negotiate a new Enterprise Agreement on your behalf. Essentially, these conditions are an enhancement to the Local Government State Award 2007 and are often specific to PCC staff.

NO more silence at Kempsey Council
Feb 12, 2009: Members at Kempsey Shire Council will be aware that on Friday 6 February 2009, a number of Union members bravely told their stories to Commissioner John Stanton of the NSW Industrial Relations Commission.  Commissioner Stanton listened to our members grievances with compassion and empathy.
