Waverley Council Members United Efforts Precedes Council Rejecting Fortnightly Pay
By Peter Kelly
USU Organiser
On Wednesday, May 15 Waverley Council workers stood together in unity by
wearing orange bands.
Their action was a silent protest organised by the United Services Union to show council workers OPPOSED council’s proposal to introduce fortnightly pay.
Workers from all departments participated in the silent protest. These departments included childcare, lifeguards, parks and gardens and outdoor staff. Members’ united efforts have greatly assisted in council reversing their decision to move members to fortnightly pay.
Special mention to all delegates and JCC members for their assistance.
