
CITY OF SYDNEY COUNCIL: Award Consolidation Update

The United Services Union negotiation team has been regularly meeting with Management to consolidate all awards and agreements into the one award.
New Proposal from Management
During the negotiation for a consolidated award major progress was being made to improve a number of conditions a number of conditions however management has now put forward a new proposal.
What is it?
Management have proposed to continue with the City, South Sydney and Leichhardt awards with no change to conditions with exception to the following conditions.
- Bereavement Leave – Any 5 days following the death of parent, spouse or child, 2 days for other family members as defined.
- Paid Maternity Leave – 18 Weeks on full pay or 36 weeks at half pay.
- Paid Paternity Leave – at time of birth, 2 weeks on full pay or 4 weeks at half pay, plus an additional 4 weeks on full pay or 8 weeks on half pay to be the primary care giver.
- Long Service Leave – Entitlement able to be accessed after completion of 5 years of service on a pro-rata basis.
- Reduction of Lost Time Injury Incidence Bonus – Paid to all eligible staff
- Sick Leave Taken Bonus – to be withdrawn.
As well as these conditions management has offered a pay increase of 10% over 3 years.
The Union will be meeting with all staff soon to seek directions on the progress of the negotiations from its members.
