All USU Delegates have access to union training and skill recognition as follows:

1. Paid access to reasonable periods of leave for attendance at accredited union training courses, including penalty payments and travel expenses.

2. Special consideration for the needs of country delegates in being able to access union training.

3. An assurance that management will not undermine training leave by changing rosters, failing to backfill the delegate’s position during their absence on leave or victimising the delegate in any way for their attendance.

4. Recognition by management of any identified skills acquired by a delegate in that role for the purposes of progression through any skills-based progression system operating in that workplace wherever those identified skills are also required by the substantive position occupied by that delegate.
