The USU Women’s Conference is held every 2 years to assess developments made for women in key policy areas with particular focus on achievements. In 2008 the Union will hold a special Women's Forum on Sunday 14th September. (find out more)
The USU is truely representational and supports the values of gender equity. Women delegates to conference have the ability to participate to ensure that our union emerges as a leader in the trade union movement by responding to the needs of our members.
During conference, delegates are be given the opportunity to develop direction & policy which will be before annual conference for consideration and endorsement.
In 2005 major discussions included activism and influencing change in the workplace with Workshops on issues including: Political Activists, Campaigning, New Activists and Collective Bargaining. There were also presentations on the new Federal Industrial Relations legislation.
Awards: At each full Women's conference, members are asked to nominate a USU member whose activism promotes women in the trade union movement and in the workplace. These Awards will not be nominated at this year's Women's Forum.
