USU takes action to protect jobs at Marrickville Council
Management from Marrickville Council are once again taking extreme actions in sacking long-term, loyal employees. And when the USU says long-term employees, two of the people targeted have been at Council 35 and 25 years respectively.
And yet Management say....we don’t know why the morale and spirit are down amongst the workers! The Union has sent Council a number of letters requesting simple answers to the questions below and to date they have not been able or willing to answer them.
1. How they selected these employees?
2. What parameters they used to select the employees?
3. What Council Policy they are using?
Management say it’s not the person that is high risk, but the job. So how is it that there are so many other workers who do those jobs without having to be assessed?
The USU is taking action in the New South Wales Industrial Relations Commission on behalf of our members to protect jobs at Marrickville Council.
The Union totally disagrees with the actions Council is taking. Two long standing, loyal employees have already been thrown on the scrap heap.....who’s next?
