TRANSGRID EA attacks your rights - vote NO!

The USU met with TransGrid management on Monday, 29 May for the final time. TransGrid is now putting an Agreement out for a vote.

We have agreed in principle on all but one clause of the Agreement – Individual Employment Agreements, or IEAs.

As you would be aware, your union has vigorously argued that IEA type arrangements are illegal and it is on this basis that your union DOES NOT ENDORSE THE AGREEMENT THAT YOU WILL BE VOTING ON.

To reiterate, IEAs WILL:

  • Be offered to people from SP 30;
  • Put you on a 10 day fortnight;
  • Grandparent RDOs for those on SP 30 and above;
  • Remove 50% of what you’re entitled to under the rest of the Agreement; and

  • Effectively remove your right to negotiate as a part of the collective.

Make no mistake, these IEAs are an attempt at union busting; throughout the negotiations, TransGrid has been receiving legal advice from a law firm that is notorious for its anti-union beliefs.

The 2% per annum being offered over 4 years is below what is being offered industry-wide.  Furthermore, after 4 years, you still might not be keeping up with the cost of living, something that your union believes is a fundamental right.

Meetings will be conducted at Haymarket and Wallgrove on Friday, 9 June at times TBC.  Other site visits will be announced as they are arranged.

Please share this important information with your colleagues.
