The ASU's campaign for our fourth Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA 4) with Jetstar has commenced.
After an extensive survey of our members we identified our claims for our negotiations see (Jetstar EBA4 bulletin: It's time to consider our Jetstar EBA 4 Claims, 13 August 2010). ASU members endorsed the proposed claim and we served the claim on Jetstar management (see bulletin Jetstar members endorse EBA 4 Claim, 11 October 2010).
The EBA will be negotiated by our national negotiating team (NNT) which includes ASU delegates from a range of areas (find out more about the NNT here).
Bargaining Update and History
Before our first meeting with Jetstar the NNT became aware of another EBA with a Jetstar company EGH (see bulletin What are Jetstar up to?). The first meeting with the Company proceeded on 3 November 2010 and the focus apart from our claims was the existence of the EGH EBA (see bulletin Jetstar EBA 4 Negotiations: What's happening?).
The ASU issued proceedings about the EGH agreement and after one day of hearings reached a settlement with Jetstar and EGH about the application of EGH to customer service work at airports. (see Bulletin Agreement Reached to Protect Customer Service Staff).
On the 6 December 2010, the next meeting with Jetstar was held and the NNT tabled some of our detailed claims and we also got list of Jetstar's claims (see bulletin Jetstar tables bargaining agenda full of cuts).
The next EBA meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 12 January 2011.
The current EBA expired on 30 September 2010 but continues to operate until it is replaced.
